Doug Alexander Vice President
(two-year term)
Doug Alexander has been employed to date in education, not as a teacher, nor as an administrator, but in program analysis and promotion of political efforts to improve education. He has worked in the U.S. Department of Education and before that for political reformers at the Free Congress Foundation, as well as for 501c3 education groups. Although born in Southern California, for many years he lived in the vicinity of Washington, D.C., a friendly location for this kind of activity. Finding reform of education by politics a fruitless activity, he decided to make a career change and took a job outside the D.C area where he met his wife Leslie (at Seton Home Study School), in Front Royal, Virginia. In 1998, a few months after marrying, they moved to his home state of California. Later they moved to Washington State for a simpler existence nearer Leslie’s family. Doug and Leslie have six children (four girls and two boys), five of them presently attending Pacific Crest Academy. In 2000 Doug helped found a new publishing company called the Catholic Schools Textbook Project to provide better books for Catholic students. Doug has a graduate degree in political philosophy from the Claremont University Graduate School, while his undergraduate degree is from Thomas Aquinas College, where he was baptized in Easter of 1974 and received into the Roman Catholic Church. The Alexanders belong to St. Thomas Aquinas parish and live in the county just outside Camas with some cats, some chickens and a well-used trampoline.
